Rotherhithe Churches and Chapels

Welcome to our Rotherhithe Churches and Chapels page. Rotherhithe is in south east London and has the post code SE16. It is within the London Borough of Southwark.

FamLoc includes details of Rotherhithe Churches and Chapels, gives info of registers, and provides map location links. Wherever possible, we have included A Church Near You website, which lists every church in the Church of England with accurate maps, contact information, and other info; and we also include, where relevant, the Lost Churches link.

We advise those searching churches, schools etc. to look also in Bermondsey, which it berders and has the same post code.
Most locals would have pronounced it Roverive

We welcome input from Local and family historians on Rotherhithe churches and chapels.

St Andrew’s Mission

Lower Road, Rotherhithe
This is not listed in LMA. The Lost Churches website says this about the church:
“Very little is known about this church except that it was extant c.1905 as it is referred to in the guidebook to the new Diocese of Southwark in 1906. The only possible clue to its location is an old map showing a mission hall opposite the Swedish Church on Lower Road (to which the grid reference given below refers). The dedication to St Andrew might reflect the seafaring community in the area at the time.”
